Searching for Gideon iron meteorite, a farmer found a 22 kg stone and 11 smaller pieces totaling 18kg in a dry river bed. Subsequently people searching with metal detectors recovered hundreds of buried pieces within 50m from the original material. These pieces were more weathered and brings the total recovery to 120kg and 130kg. The largest piece was used in a garden wall until 2000.
You can read the full report by Prof L.D. Ashwell here.
All photographs are taken in a light studio so colours may vary from the actual piece. We do try and make the images as accurate as possible.
