The copper deposits of Kimbedi near Mindouli are internationally recognised for producing some of the finest Dioptase specimens available. Their intensely saturated colour, sharp crystal morphology and exceptional brilliance have made this locality one of the most desirable sources of collector-quality Dioptase. The natural association with Malachite further enhances the specimen, reflecting the rich secondary copper mineralisation for which the district is renowned.
This specimen displays an attractive crystal-lined cavity densely populated with well-formed Dioptase crystals exhibiting excellent lustre and strong colour saturation. The velvety Malachite growths emerging through the centre provide an unusual focal point and create a striking contrast against the glassy crystal faces. The composition is complemented by the warm-toned matrix, giving the specimen excellent aesthetics from multiple display angles.
Combining exceptional colour, strong crystal definition, an attractive natural composition and a classic Congo locality, this is a display-quality cabinet specimen that will appeal to collectors of fine copper minerals, African mineral localities and world-class Dioptase specimens.
