The History of Cambropallas Telesto

Cambropallas telesto was a large marine trilobite that lived during the Middle Cambrian, approximately 500–521 million years ago. Its fossils are particularly associated with the Jbel Wawrmast Formation of Morocco's Anti-Atlas Mountains, including the Jbel Ougnat region. These rocks preserve an important record of Middle Cambrian marine life and are renowned for producing exceptionally large trilobites.

Trilobites were marine arthropods belonging to the extinct class Trilobita. Their characteristic body plan was divided into three principal sections: the broad cephalon, the segmented thorax, and the pygidium at the rear. The thorax consisted of multiple articulated segments, allowing trilobites a degree of flexibility and movement. The distinctive three-lobed body structure is responsible for the group's name and makes their fossils instantly recognisable.
