This authentic large Cambropallas telesto Trilobite originates from the fossil-rich Jbel Wawrmast Formation of Morocco's Anti-Atlas Mountains, an important locality for large Middle Cambrian trilobites. The fossil occupies much of the prepared slab and is particularly attractive for its broad, rounded outline and strong contrast between the warm orange fossil material and the lighter surrounding matrix. The numerous thoracic segments remain readily visible, providing a fascinating view of the articulated body plan of this ancient marine arthropod.

The History of Cambropallas Telesto

Cambropallas telesto was a large marine trilobite that lived during the Middle Cambrian, approximately 500–521 million years ago. Its fossils are particularly associated with the Jbel Wawrmast Formation of Morocco's Anti-Atlas Mountains, including areas such as Jbel Ougnat. This region is internationally recognised for its important Cambrian fossil assemblages and spectacular large trilobites.

Trilobites were extinct marine arthropods that belonged to the class Trilobita. Their bodies followed a remarkably distinctive design, consisting of a broad cephalon at the front, a segmented thorax through the middle and a pygidium forming the rear section. Viewed from above, the central axis and paired lateral lobes create the characteristic three-lobed appearance from which the group takes its name.

Cambropallas telesto is especially notable for its considerable size. Some specimens reach more than 10 inches in length, making them particularly spectacular representatives of Cambrian arthropod diversity. During the Middle Cambrian, the world's oceans were undergoing an extraordinary diversification of marine life.
