Suspended inside are several fascinating insect inclusions, perfectly preserved against the translucent background like miniature fossils frozen in mid-moment. Amber is not a stone, but fossilised tree resin formed over millions of years. Long ago, ancient forests produced sticky resin that slowly dripped down tree trunks. Insects, tiny plants, and other small organisms were sometimes caught in this resin, becoming perfectly sealed inside. Over vast stretches of time, heat and pressure transformed the resin into the golden, translucent material we now call amber.

Amber from Myanmar (Burma) is among the most important in the world because of its incredible age. Most Burmese amber is estimated to be around 95 to 100 million years old, dating back to the Cretaceous period when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth. This makes it some of the oldest commercially available amber, far older than Baltic or Dominican amber.
