This Myanmar (Burma) amber with insect inclusions is a beautifully polished specimen with a broad, gently rounded form and a rich golden-yellow colour. The translucent resin contains several clearly visible prehistoric insects, together with fine organic fragments and numerous tiny natural particles suspended throughout the amber. The inclusions are distributed across the specimen, with several insects particularly noticeable within the central and lower portions.
The amber displays an attractive contrast between its bright golden interior and deeper orange-brown tones around the outer edges. Long, flowing internal structures give the resin a layered appearance, while the numerous small inclusions add depth and visual interest. The combination of relatively clear amber and well-defined insect inclusions makes this specimen particularly rewarding to examine closely.

The Ancient Forests of Myanmar Amber
Amber is not a stone or mineral, but fossilised tree resin formed over millions of years. During the Cretaceous Period, ancient forests produced sticky resin that flowed from trees and sometimes trapped insects, plant fragments and other small organisms. Once enclosed within the resin, these organisms could be protected from decay and preserved in remarkable detail.
Over vast periods of geological time, the resin underwent chemical changes and gradually hardened into amber. Because organisms could become rapidly sealed within the resin, amber is capable of preserving delicate structures in three dimensions, providing an exceptional record of ancient life.
Myanmar amber is particularly important because of its remarkable age. Most Burmese amber is estimated to be approximately 95–100 million years old, placing it within the Cretaceous Period. These deposits formed during a time when dinosaurs inhabited the Earth and ancient forests supported an extraordinary diversity of insects and other organisms.
The inclusions preserved in Burmese amber provide valuable evidence of prehistoric biodiversity. Insects, spiders, plant material and other organisms can be preserved with exceptional detail, allowing scientists to study aspects of ancient forest ecosystems that would otherwise have disappeared completely.
Preservation and Natural Character
This Myanmar (Burma) amber with insect inclusions preserves multiple prehistoric insects and organic material within translucent golden fossilised resin. The rich colour, flowing internal structures and contrasting inclusions give the specimen a distinctive natural character.
At approximately 27 mm in length, this Myanmar amber with insect inclusions is an attractive display specimen for collectors interested in amber, fossil insects and Cretaceous palaeontology.
A fascinating window into a Cretaceous forest, this authentic Myanmar amber preserves prehistoric insects within fossilised tree resin formed approximately 95–100 million years ago.
