Okorusu Mine is one of Namibia's classic fluorite localities and is particularly renowned for its distinctive cubic fluorite crystals and remarkable range of colours. Fluorite from the locality is documented in green, blue-green, purple and colourless varieties, with some specimens displaying complex colour zoning and multiple generations of crystal growth.

The Okorusu deposit is associated with a Cretaceous carbonatite complex, where mineral-rich hydrothermal fluids moved through the surrounding rocks and created conditions suitable for fluorite formation. As these fluids changed in composition and conditions evolved, successive generations of minerals formed, producing the complex crystal associations seen in specimens from the locality.

S624 is particularly attractive for its combination of pale green fluorite and contrasting white quartz. Several prominent cubic fluorite crystals can be seen across the specimen, including a large, translucent green crystal on the front-right portion. Smaller fluorite crystals extend across the central and lower areas, while a substantial group of pale quartz crystals rises behind them to create an attractive natural backdrop.

The fluorite displays the characteristic cubic crystal form associated with Okorusu, although many of the crystals are intergrown and partially covered by later mineral growth. Subtle purple coloration can also be seen within some of the fluorite, adding another layer of colour to an otherwise predominantly green and white specimen.

The quartz adds considerable visual depth to the piece. Rather than simply forming a flat matrix, it creates a raised cluster behind and around the fluorite, giving the specimen an appealing three-dimensional presentation from several viewing angles. Small areas of brownish mineralisation are also present between the crystals, providing a natural contrast to the pale fluorite and quartz.
