This Myanmar (Burma) amber with insect inclusions is a striking polished specimen with an elongated, naturally rounded form and a beautiful golden-yellow colour. The translucent amber reveals a fascinating internal landscape of delicate insects, fine organic fragments, plant-like material and numerous tiny bubbles suspended within the ancient resin. A particularly clear winged insect is visible within the lower portion, while additional small inclusions and organic structures can be seen throughout the piece.

The specimen has an attractive combination of clarity and complexity, with darker reddish-brown organic material creating strong contrast against the glowing yellow-gold resin. Fine internal textures, wispy fragments and small natural features give the amber considerable depth when viewed under magnification. The smooth polished surface allows the preserved inclusions to be examined from multiple angles.

The Ancient Forests of Myanmar Amber

Amber is not a stone or mineral, but fossilised tree resin formed over millions of years. During the Cretaceous Period, ancient forests produced sticky resin that flowed from trees and sometimes trapped insects, plant fragments and other small organisms. Once enclosed within the resin, these delicate organisms could be protected from decay and preserved in remarkable detail.

Over immense periods of geological time, the resin underwent chemical changes and hardened into amber. The rapid entombment of small organisms within the sticky resin created an exceptional form of fossil preservation, sometimes retaining delicate features that would otherwise have been lost.

Myanmar amber is particularly important because of its remarkable age. Most Burmese amber is estimated to be approximately 95–100 million years old, placing it firmly within the Cretaceous Period. This was a time when dinosaurs inhabited the land, while ancient forests supported a diverse range of insects and other organisms.

The fossil inclusions found within Burmese amber provide extraordinary evidence of ancient biodiversity. Insects, spiders, plant material and other organisms can be preserved in three dimensions, giving scientists and collectors an unusually detailed glimpse into ecosystems that existed millions of years ago.

Preservation and Natural Character

This Myanmar (Burma) amber with insect inclusions preserves multiple delicate insects alongside fine organic material within translucent fossilised tree resin. The contrasting dark inclusions, natural internal textures and golden colour give the specimen an especially attractive appearance.

At approximately 33 mm in length, this Myanmar amber with insect inclusions is an appealing display specimen for collectors interested in amber, fossil insects and Cretaceous palaeontology. Its polished finish and varied inclusions make it particularly rewarding to examine closely.

A remarkable window into the Cretaceous world, this authentic Myanmar amber preserves prehistoric insects within fossilised tree resin formed approximately 95–100 million years ago.
