Okorusu Mine is one of Namibia's best-known fluorite localities and has produced exceptional specimens in a remarkable range of colours. Green and blue-green fluorite are particularly characteristic of the locality, with crystals commonly displaying sharp cubic forms and, in some specimens, striking internal colour zoning and phantom growth.

The deposit formed within an Early Cretaceous alkaline igneous-carbonatite complex. Fluorite occurs in association with carbonatite-related mineralisation and can replace earlier minerals and host rocks during hydrothermal processes. Quartz is also a documented mineral associated with the Okorusu fluorite deposit.

This particular specimen is especially appealing because of its three-dimensional crystal arrangement. Rather than presenting as a simple flat cluster, the fluorite crystals build upward and outward from the centre of the specimen, creating several attractive viewing angles.

The most prominent crystal is a large, pale sea-green cubic fluorite positioned near the upper portion of the specimen. Its broad crystal faces and translucent interior allow subtle variations in colour and internal texture to be seen. Additional fluorite crystals surround it, creating a layered arrangement of overlapping cubic forms.

White to translucent quartz crystals provide an attractive contrast against the green fluorite. They are particularly concentrated along one side of the specimen, where numerous small crystals form a textured natural association with the fluorite. Brownish mineralisation between the crystals adds further colour and helps define the individual mineral growth.

The specimen also reveals the characteristic natural surface textures and internal features of Okorusu fluorite. While the crystals are not uniformly gem-clear, their translucency allows light to penetrate portions of the fluorite and highlights the depth of the crystal cluster.

At approximately 49 × 39 × 40 mm, this is a compact specimen with a substantial three-dimensional presence. Its combination of a recognised locality, attractive green fluorite, quartz association and multiple viewing angles makes it a particularly interesting addition to a collection of Namibian minerals.

Fluorite has a Mohs hardness of approximately 4 and possesses perfect octahedral cleavage, so the specimen should be handled with care and protected from knocks and abrasion.
