This striking Shiny Botryoidal Malachite specimen from the renowned Kolwezi Region of the Katanga Copperbelt, Democratic Republic of the Congo, is covered with an intricate landscape of tightly packed botryoidal formations. Thousands of rounded nodules, ranging from tiny grape-like spheres to larger bulbous clusters, blanket the entire display face, creating exceptional texture and visual depth.
Unlike many velvety Malachite specimens, this piece displays a subtle natural sheen across its fine crystalline surface. Under changing light, the countless microscopic crystals produce delicate sparkling highlights that bring the specimen to life. The combination of its rich green colour, densely packed botryoidal growths and sculptural form makes it a superb display piece.

The Katanga Copperbelt is one of the world's most famous sources of collector-quality Malachite. Here, copper-rich groundwater slowly deposited layers of copper carbonate within cavities and fractures over millions of years. As these layers accumulated, they formed the distinctive botryoidal growths that resemble clusters of grapes, each coated with a fine layer of microscopic crystals.
This specimen is particularly impressive because of its exceptional coverage. The entire display face is filled with overlapping botryoidal formations, creating a dramatic three-dimensional surface with very little exposed matrix. Its natural sparkle, substantial size and outstanding texture make it an excellent addition to any mineral collection or display cabinet.
Whether displayed as a decorative conversation piece or added to an advanced collection of African copper minerals, this Shiny Botryoidal Malachite beautifully showcases the remarkable mineral diversity of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
