Sikhote-Alin meteorites are composed primarily of iron with a significant natural nickel content, along with trace elements such as cobalt, phosphorus, and sulphur. These elements formed within the molten core of an ancient asteroid over 4.5 billion years ago, making each fragment older than Earth itself. Many pieces display classic ablation features, formed as the surface melted and sculpted itself during its fiery passage through the atmosphere.
