The crystal arrangement gives this piece an appealing natural architecture, with larger cubic fluorite crystals emerging from a dense covering of smaller crystals. Several of the larger cubes are translucent enough to reveal internal colour variation, while the stepped arrangement creates attractive depth when viewed from different angles. The grey matrix provides a strong visual foundation and allows the pale green fluorite to remain the dominant feature.

Fluorite is calcium fluoride (CaF₂) and is one of the classic collector minerals, particularly valued for its cubic crystal habit, translucency and remarkable range of colours. Fluorite is documented from the Norabees I pegmatite within the Norrabees pegmatite field at Steinkopf, where it occurs as part of the mineral assemblage associated with the region's pegmatites. The Steinkopf area forms part of the western Orange River pegmatite belt, an approximately 450-km-long Mesoproterozoic pegmatite belt emplaced at around 1 billion years ago.

At only 38 mm across its longest dimension, this specimen falls comfortably within the Miniature category while offering excellent crystal visibility and a strong display presence. Its combination of pale green fluorite, subtle purple accents, well-defined cubic forms and contrasting matrix makes it an appealing representative of Steinkopf material.
