Unlike a conventional multi-crystal cluster, this piece is particularly interesting for the substantial mass and internal structure of its dominant fluorite crystal. Translucent zones alternate with more saturated green areas, while the visible internal growth patterns give the crystal a sense of depth. Fluorite is calcium fluoride (CaF₂) and is especially prized by collectors for its cubic crystal habit, translucency and extraordinary colour range. Fluorite is documented from the Norabees I pegmatite within the Norrabees pegmatite field at Steinkopf, providing a confirmed fluorite occurrence within the Steinkopf area. Steinkopf forms part of the extensive Orange River pegmatite belt of the Namaqua-Natal region, a Mesoproterozoic belt extending for roughly 450 km and containing more than 30,000 pegmatite bodies.

Measuring just over 4 cm at its longest dimension, this specimen falls within the Miniature category while offering considerably more visual substance than its compact size suggests.
